Thanks for the response! Yeah, I thought about the same thing and even tried to run that installation in wine (http://www.winehq.org/), and extract files from the executable. But that didn't work out well. Luckily, I have found a Windows 7 installation in my stash and was able to get everything up and running in Virtual Box, including Kit programs and Quartus II. As a matter of fact, GUI tools in Linux are nearly useless. For example, Pin Planner is just a waste of time in Ubuntu. On a contrary, Windows versions work like a charm, faster in VM than native Linux binaries. The last issue is that temperature monitor and test system are not working because they cannot seem to find USB blaster.. (but Programmer works well). I can live with that setup for a while.
