Version 18.1 comes with a version of eclipse with the NIOS tools pre-installed. Version 19.1 does not include eclipse - you down load it directly. After you install 19.1 the NIOS plugins archive (zip, tgz - whatever is appropriate) can be found in the <install>/nios2eds/bin folder. Gary. How to contact license support? I have a renewal that won't apply. I try to contact support from the licensing page and all requests are denied - because it says my Host ID is invalid. Because of the error I can't contact anyone about the error. Re: Eclipse not starting from inside quartus 19.1 Sadly, Intel has not addressed these defects. Nothing to be found in any tool updates. For version 18.x there are a number of things to try: 1) Install the WSL package. 2) Get a fresh copy of eclipse mars.2 and apply the NIOS changes 3) Write a shell script that sets the QUARTUS environment and starts eclipse. 4) Go back to version 17.x In version 19.1 the Platform Designer is broken. No need for Build Tools if one can't make a platform. I have pointed out that the NIOS additions to eclipse should be distributed as an install-able package. Installing by writing over a collection of files is not the right way to do it. Even when it does start it doesn't work properly. Several eclipse commands error-abort when you try to use them. Good Luck! Re: Trouble getting NIOS II Software Build Tools to work on Ubuntu AhmedH_Intel : Can you please explain any workaround you made to get this working fine? I have not found a workaround that gets this working fine. I currently use a shell script that sets all the environment variables before calling eclipse. I can make progress, but it is not "working fine". I also believe that you are replying to a question I asked in a different thread. Perhaps put your response there? Re: Eclipse not starting from inside quartus 19.1 If you read the original message: the SBT was already installed. Your telling me to do something that I have already done. I have shared the error(s) - when I try to start nios2-eclipse I get the message "Segmentation Violation - Core Dumped". That is the only message. I seems that the testing was done using WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). This is not a valid test of a Linux application. Re: Segmentation Violation - core dumped How to get around this error message? It happens every time I run eclipse-nios2 In another thread is was suggested that installing wsl would fix the problem. It does not fix the problem with Ubuntu 16.04 Please note that booting Ubuntu and running Ubuntu under Windows-10 WSL are different. Working in one does not mean that it will work in the other. And the goal should be to get it working in both. What additional libraries need to be installed to use NIOS SDK 18.1.1 in Ubuntu 16.04? Re: window10 Quartus pro 19.2 软件nio2 command shell 无法启动? Hello, I am running "real" Ubuntu, not the WSL version. No Windows on the computer, and no need to enable Linux - my system boots Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The make system and dos2unix were already installed. (dos2unix is just a text format / end of line changer) Installing WSL in "real" Ubuntu causes the libxml2-utils package to be installed - and I think that this is what fixed it. I can now start eclipse from the Quartus tools menu. Running 'eclipse-nios2' from the command line starts eclipse - it no longer core faults. This is with Quartus 18.1.1 - I can't use 19.1 until the JTAG-UART is fixed. Thank you. My original question remains: Can the SBT be downloaded separately, or must the full Quartus package be downloaded? Re: Other workflow for generating Preloader since Quartus-Prime Version 19.1 with "SoC EDS 19.1 Command Shell„ The answer may be in this post: <https://forums.intel.com/s/question/0D50P00004bZ2TkSAK/> In part: MeiYanL_Intel (Intel) Could you try to install Nios II SBT v18.1 as workaround? Re: window10 Quartus pro 19.2 软件nio2 command shell 无法启动? Is the NIOS II SBT available as a separate download, or do you install all of 18.1 and use the SBT in it? Re: Whan's the performance about Simple Socket Server demo on Cyclone V FPGA I do not remember it having that reporting. It might be better to have it (the Cyclone V) be the device under test, and have the tester report the throughput.
