Why is NIOS II running slowly on my Cyclone V design?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II Software version 12.0 and 12.1, NIOS® II designs may run at a reduced maximum frequency when Embedded Multipliers or LE based Multipliers are selected.

Resolution

A patch is available to fix this problem for the Quartus II Software version 13.0 and 13.0sp1.  Download and install the appropriate patch from the links below, then re-compile your design in Quartus II.
