Why does Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software crash in Convert Programming Files GUI while converting .sof file + .hex file to .jic file?

Description

Due to a bug in Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 21.3 and below, the .hex file that contains no memory cell values which is empty will causes Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software to crash.

 

 

Resolution

Use a valid .hex file to generate the .jic file.

 

This is scheduled to be fixed in the future release of Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software.
