Why can’t I achieve a timestamp accuracy of +/- 1.5nSec with the F-Tile Ethernet FPGA Hard IP variant with the “Enable IEEE 1588 PTP” parameter enabled and the “Timestamp accuracy mode” parameter set to “Advanced”?

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.2, the F-tile Ethernet FPGA Hard IP variant with the “Enable IEEE 1588 PTP” parameter enabled and the “Timestamp accuracy mode” parameter set to “Advanced” might fail to achieve a timestamp accuracy of +/- 1.5nSec. The best timestamp accuracy achieved in this mode is +/- 2.0nSec.

Resolution

There is no workaround for this problem in the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software version 24.3 and earlier.

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 24.3.1.
