Quartus: Fatal Error: Segment Violation: faulting address=(nil), ... Module: quartus_fit

Description

Due to a problem in Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software v21.1, you might see this error during the Fitter Retime stage. This error occurs when using an Intel Agilex® device where there is a critical chain on constrained I/Os. 

Resolution

A patch is available to fix this problem for the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Software v21.1.

Download and install patch 0.01 from the following links:

• Patch 0.01 for Windows (.exe) 
• Patch 0.01 for Linux (.run)  (To download .run file, right-click on the link, choose Save link as)
