DDR3 maximum frequency specification with Cyclone V
Hi to you all,
our team trying to combine ddr3 in our design for the first time and we have question about the maximum frequency can be apply with Cyclone V .
Our configuration:
we are using 5CGXFC9E6F31I7.
we are using DDR3 SDRAM with only one chip select. MT41K128M16JT-125 IT:K
we want to use the hard memory controller IP.
As mentioned in the EMIF maximum frequency specification update:
"For Cyclone V GX/E, -C6 speed grade device interfacing with a DDR3 or DDR3L SDRAM component, with 2 chip selects using hard memory controller at 400 MHz: Upgrade the 533 MHz DDR3 SDRAM component to a 667 MHz DDR3 SDRAM component to achieve the specified maximum frequency. "
does that update includes the 5CGXFC9E6F31I7 also?
what is the maximum frequency we can achieve with that configuration i wrote above?
BR,
Ram.
Hi Ram,
Thank you for submitting your question in Intel Community.
I am Adzim, application engineer will assist you in this thread.
To check the External Memory Interface specification on the Intel's devices, you can visit to EMIF support page and open the EMIF Spec Estimator page.
- EMIF Support page: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/support-resources/support-centers/emif-support.html
- EMIF Spec Estimator: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/programmable/support-resources/support-centers/emif-spec-estimator.html
"does that update includes the 5CGXFC9E6F31I7 also?"
-> The update only applied to Cyclone V GX/E -C6 speed grade device.
"what is the maximum frequency we can achieve with that configuration i wrote above?"
-> The maximum frequency that you can achieve is 400MHz.
