State machine encoding

Could anyone explain what the encoding table in the state machine viewer is telling me or direct me to an Altera infosheet. thanks

Thanks but I had already looked at this doc and it does not tell how the encoding information relates to the state mach diagram. Having studied a simple sate machine I just cannot see the relationship.
