qwedt hangs accessing license server

Hi,

trying to use qsim (linux platform) with my students results in the following:

qsim starts ok and opens project ok.

selecting New Simulation input file starts qwedt ok

quartus splashscreen appears,

then the frame for the waveform editor shows but then hangs.

Our tech support found the following work-around

start quartus and disable the license details, (we use a flexlm server),

close quartus,

start qsim etc as above,

a pop-up requesting license details will appear when selecting new simulation file.

selecting any option allows the waveform editor to work as expected.

qsim version 11.0 Build 208 07/03/2011 Service Pack 1 SJ Full Version

I have no problem with it on my office machine, however that is running Build 15704/07/2011 SJ full

Any suggestions as to possible causes?
