QuartusII9.1sp2 webedition for linux: no optimization for area/balanced ?

I am working with QuartusII WebEdition 9.1sp1 and 9.1sp2 under linux and windows and i figured out that there is a difference between the linux and the windows version:

When I changed the synthesis optimizations from "speed" to "area" or "balanced" the linux version does not apply these settings during synthesis, while the windows version does!

Thus, whatever project I compile in the linux version with the settings turned to area or balanced, I get the same hardware resource usage and performance as for the speed option (-and during synthesis, it gives me an info-line telling me that it's going to use the speed optimization now).

I also tried to set the optimization goal using tcl assignments, but this also didn't work. I had a look into the "known issues" and "release information" documents on the webpage but wasn't able to find anything regarding this issue...

Could it be that there is a bug in the linux version of the webEdition or am I doing anything wrong here? Do you have any ideas of a workaround for this maybe ?

Thanks for the help!

Bernd.

certainly sounds like a bug. can you file a service request?

i will try to confirm this also.

Yes I filed a Service Request, but it is still in "open" state on the mySupport Page...

Could you confirm this behavior on your installation?

(For instance, by opening and synthesizing the "fir_filter" project that comes with quartus? Does it give different results for different settings of "Speed/Area/Balanced"??)

Or maybe am I alone having this problem ?

    Thx!

i see the same results in post map LEs (121) for Linux Web Edition 9.1sp1 and Windows Subscription Edition 9.1sp2 for either Area or Speed. i think the filter design is not complicated enough to test the synthesis settings.
