Is this a dev kit or a custom board? Is your hardware connection listed at the top of the Programmer (click Hardware setup if necessary)? Does the same thing happen if you double-click in the File column to specify the file?

it is a Devkit... yes hardware was listed n the programmer

yes the same thing happens if I double-click in the File column to specify the file..
