Quartus not catch error

I sent out a service request for this issue. However, I think it worth to put the screen capture here. It may be a simple issue at my side. But I cannot figure it out.

I have a project complied, simulated, and routed. It used about 660 LEs. However, this morning it starts to give me weird issues. I noticed that the project only use 331LEs. And there are about 40 more warnings. A lot of registers were reported not used.

Second, I compiler did not catch the error as shown in figure1, it is an error in figure2.

I cannot figure out why all those registers were reported not used. And why fig1 is not an error.
