Quartus "Lock Mode" Greyed Out

I'm brand new to using the tools. Experts at my company left. Fending for ourselves now.

I want to make use of the advanced capture modes available in the Quartus tools, but the "Lock Mode" is greyed out.

My situation is that I have defined a SignalTap instantiation in my RTL, synthesized it, and opened it up by the tools. It's not clear why this wouldn't have worked, but I'm just too green to know if I should have done this differently.

Any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

We are using Quartus 11.
