Quartus II freezing every few seconds

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem. Quartus II 9.1 keeps freezing. I cant figure out what is causing it and it happens on both of my computers. One is an i7 desktop with w7x64 and 8 gigs of ram and the other core 2 duo laptop with w7x32 and 2 gigs of ram. It is really annoying, it locks up for about ten seconds every thirty seconds. I have tried different versions and I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it. If any one has any ideas on how to fix this I am grateful to hear them. Thank you.

BTW, my teacher doesn't wont us to use v10 for some reason, so I haven't tried it and I'm not sure if I will.

    I just noticed that it only freezes then I change what I'm doing. For instance:

    moving components around to adding components (and vise-versa)

    moving components around to compiling it... etc

    That's what a I was thinking except five of my friends have the same version as me and w7 and they all run fine.
