Quartus II, disable .bak generation

Quartus II has a bad habit of creating old .bak versions of files. How can I disable this?

You can use a different text editor...

The text editor built into Quartus (which I've just had a play with, having never used it before) automatically generates the .bak files. It doesn't look like you can prevent it from doing that.

There are plenty of editors available, many that support syntax highlighting and many more features that'll help your coding. I suggest you look into a few.
