Quartus 10.0 too buggy?

I didn't try it yet, but according to most posts and complains here, Quartus 10.0 seems to be too buggy. Version 9.0 was a bit buggy already, at least in comparison to previous versions which I think they were all very stable. But this one seems too much, never heard so many issues here.

I see Altera is releasing "revision 2". Is this a service pack? Never seen Altera using this naming scheme.

    where do you see rev2?

the GUI changed in 10.0 and some of the changes have let productivity suffer. some of this is related to installation which is well documented by Altera, or else shows up in the Release Notes where work arounds are suggested. i expect we will see some workflow enhancements in the service packs or next versions of Quartus as the software becomes more mature with the new GUI library

in general the initial release seems to be more problematic as new features are added they can be unstable or cause previously working things to break. service packs tend to clean up pretty well, i would say 9.0sp2 and 9.1sp2 are very strong releases. the 10.0 release might be a bit more painful than other recent releases because of the GUI switch

Perhaps rev2 is just an updated installer and that is why they are not calling it a service pack? The installer seems to be one of the more common complaints in the forum.

I've started to grow concerned that Altera might start "running faster than they have strength for". They've been making a lot of modifications to the software between releases over the last few years.

10.0 and 10.1 are big changes both on the surface and under the hood. We're holding off on the transition until it becomes necessary.

Although is buggy, the compilation time seems much faster compare to previous version.

We continue to work with 9.1sp1/2 here until the transition is required or there is a better 10.x-release. I only wanted to do some small changes to an existing schematic-file and found so many issues that it was annoying...
