Problem simulating Nios II Design in Altera-Modelsim edition

I am using 30-day eval version of Quartus software. Whenever I try to simulate a design using Modelsim, I get an error.

problem occurred window pops-up with following message

'Launching sw_app Modelsim configuration' has encountered a problem.

Failed Executing: make sim SPD=/data/temp_proj/temp_proj_tb.spd ELF=/data/temp_proj/software/sw_app/sw_app.elf ENABLE_VSIM_GUI=1 VSIM_DIR=/data/tools/altera-subscription-edition-12.1/modelsim_ase/linuxaloem return code: 2

Does tool generate logs with more information about this error?

    When I tried to simulate a hello world application on a simple Nios II system with just JTAG-UART and some on-chip memories, there were no errors.

    Could this be because of Scatter-Gather DMA core that I am using in my design? Does 30-day eval version has limitation on simulation support.
