Problem in Viterbi Decoder

hello

i am a student and i have a project named ' Convolutionnal Coder/ decoder using VHDL"

i have managed to make the two type of encoders (the original circuit and the other by using Moore Finit state machine) and it worked perfectly.

but now i am stuck with the decodeur Viterbi it is so complex for me even the documments i found didn't provide enough informations.

i have tried every possible way to solve but it's kind of hard.

so if anyone have an idea or already worked on this project please contact me
