Nu-be needs to chat with experienced Quartus user

Hi folks,

I need a couple of minutes of help from someone who can guide me through a few rough spots on my first Quartus design. Rather than burden this forum with a list of questions, I think it may be easier for all if I could just chat with someone. I'm in the CA Bay Area, and likely a few minutes would go a long way towards letting me complete my design. Or, if there is an official place to go for this, I haven't found it. My design is completely schematic based using Megafunctions. Thanks.

    Hi Corwin,

did you have a look to the tutorials in Quartus ? Under help you can find a tutorial which guides you through the flow. Maybe that will answer your first questions.

    Kind regards

Thanks for the suggestion. I did go through the tutorials. I in fact have my first design completed except for a problem creating 10-bit wide parts with the Megafunction wizard (as noted elsewhere). I could just complete the design by splitting the 10-bit parts into 8+2, but that seems to defeat the use of parameterized functions. There's no great hurry, and I'm hoping someone experienced with schematic entry can clue me in with fixing it properly.

The issue I was having mysteriously cleared itself up. In the block editor, I selected a part such as the lpm_shiftreg. That then automatically opens the editor for that part. One of the first adjustable fields is the 'width' of the register. If I left that at 8, it instantiated properly and I could connect nodes to it just fine. If I changed the width to '10', when it instantiated, there were no connections on the outline of the part. I had this problem for the entire first day of use. After shutting down my system and rebooting on the next day, everything worked fine! From then on I have had no problems.

    But, thanks for asking.
