Modelsim error

Running ModelSim Altera Edition 10.4d (part of Quartus Prime 16.0 standard) after executing a .do file generated by Quartus. I am getting this error when I do an elab command, "# ** Error: Failure to obtain a VHDL simulation license. Unable to checkout alteramtivsim license feature." How do I clear this error, so I can simulate?

    Hi Tim,

    Should be a license issue.

    1. Do you have a licence for Modelsim Altera edition??
    2. Please check the license file/ Environment variables.

    or

    Use Modelsim-intel FPGA starter edition.
