Met timing requirements N/A?

I created an SDC for TimeQuest and ran a full compilation. During compilation, I saw "Critical warning: Timing requirements not met".

But when compilation is done, the Flow Summary window displayed:

"Met timing requirements N/A".

Does N/A mean Not Applicable or Not Met?

Maybe this is a nuance question. But I just wonder why Quartus does not consistent information through different steps...

    I also find this behavior.

I suppose the information in Flow Summary only applies when you use Classic Timing Analyzer, which is fully integrated in Quartus; while Time Quest is somehow a distinct component and Quartus doesn't report its complete results.

That is correct. The summary only applies to the Classic Timing Analysis.

ACDS V10.1 will no longer include the Classic Timing Analyzer so this problem will go away :-)

    Thanks

Hmmm... Maybe I should keep 10.0 on my PC once 10.1 comes out - I'd have way too many old designs I would have to convert.

Oh well... you can't fight progress, I guess ;-)

Yes, you want to keep a pre-V10.1 version if you have many (or any) Classic Timing Analysis based designs that may still need work. At the same time, you want to start any new projects with TimeQuest on V10.0 (or even older versions), so you can migrate them to V10.1 easily if you need to. I believe Quartus 10.0 displays a warning, if you use the Classic Timing Analyzer, indicating you won't be able to migrate your project to future releases (i.e. you can migrate, but you will have to switch to TimeQuest for timing closure).
