Linux installation issues

I downloaded the Linux .tar file for the Quartus II software for my Digital Design class. Everything downloaded okay and I ran the script to install it but it is not appearing in my applications list...

it won't appear in your applications list. you need to set up the appropriate environment variables (QUARTUS_ROOTDIR, PATH at a minimum), then run the command: quartus
