How to used emulated LVDS

I have been trying to use the emulated(also called medium performance) LVDS pins in a Stratix4. I connected the pins an LVDS RX but Quartus complains that the pins should not be connected to an ALTLVDS_RX.

How can those pins be used to emulate an LVDS?
