Can't stop Quartus

I am using Quartus V11.1 sp2. While compiler is running, click "STOP" icon

makes it stop. But this is true only when No. of processor is one. If No. of

available processors are 4 or more, I cannot stop the process. Every time I click "STOP", new task apears like zonbi !! All I can do is reset of PC.

Of cause Task Manager does not work. Any one knows how to stop it ?

I haven't seen this particular error, but I do manage to lock-up Quartus with JTAG issues from time to time. When that happens, find quartus.exe in the task manager under the processes tab, right-click, and select "End Process Tree", and that seems to work.

    Cheers,

    Dear Dave,

I am using Japanese version of Windows XP.

When I right-click, I can select "End process" (in Japanese).

But there is no "End process tree".

And as soon as I killed the task, new task appears.

I wonder if "End process" and "End process tree" are the same meaning.

    Dear Dave,

When I select task manager in stead of Quartus task, I can see the "End process tree", I will try it and I hope it will work.

Unfortunately "End process tree" did not work.

Four of the quartus_map.exe are running forever unless I shut down the PC. This happens on Dell PC and it does not happens on other PC (mother board build up PC). I wonder if there is some relation with PC set up.
