Can I chain devices in a jtag chain and still run signal tap?

The documentation states that you can... any thing to be careful about when doing this? I am planning to have 5 stratix iv gx 180 with 12 xcvrs each all on one chain. Do you think I can chain them together without affecting the signal tap debug capabilities? I am also thinking of the latency or response time of the signal tap as these are reasonable big devices.

Any information/experience would be appreciated.
