14 years agoByteBlaster JTAG cable under Windows 7?
Yes, I am using an ancient ByteBlaster JTAG cable for the parallel port under Windows 7. the cable & adapter drivers information page states windows 7 in the second column, but when I open the install driver link, this only mentions windows vista 32bit.
I tried to follow the steps although the UAC seems to be a little different under Win7 (there is no Turn User Account Control on or off [/B][/B]setting, I just set the UAC to lowest level. From a Command Prompt (run with admin privileges), I tried to run bblpt /i in the quartus\bin folder, but this simply displays an error message "can't start altera byteblaster service". I also tried running jtagconfig --add byteblasterii lpt2 from that prompt, which gave the message "unable to add hardware (bad port name)"... I verified in the Device Manager that the parallel port is LTP2. Has anyone succeeded in using a parallel JTAG cable under Windows 7? I already ordered an USB Blaster, but I am working on a project right now and can't wait for the delivery.
