Hmm, I've never even thought of adding other IP to a custom component design. Usually I just take HDL code that I want to work in a Platform Designer system and turn it into a custom component, then connect the custom component to other IP/components. I think option 3 is the only thing you can do.

Is there a reason why you can't pull those IP out of your custom component and connect to them?
