Adding FPGA Device families to Quartus tool

Hi,

We are using Quartus 14.0 tool, there are two FPGA devices (Stratix III and Stratix II GX) which are not supported by the tool. Is there any way to add the libraries of unsupported Device families? Or is there any other solution for this problem (other than migrating to a lower version of the tool)?

Thanks,

Kiran

No. I believe that is explicitly done because changes are constantly being made to Quartus, but older families(and their IP) can't be properly tested and benchmarked with all those changes. Plus new things get added in that don't support those families and things need to be done to address that(messages, errors, etc.) Families will now have a last known version of Quartus that supports them. It's understandably painful to keep older versions of Quartus around, but probably a good practice.

Hi, thanks for the reply. So we have to migrate to a lower version suppose the Device family is not supported?
