A sof file is not generated in Quartus II

I complile a project successfuly but a sof file is not generated.What could be a problem?

Often this is a licensing problem. If that's what happened there will be a message about it. In fact whatever the cause was Quartus should have generated a message about it so look through the .rpt files.
