.sof file not been generated

I run the Quartus Prime Lite Edition 20.1 & did not see a .sof file generated (seen a .pof one).

Isn't .sof generation option turned on for the MAX V 5M1270ZF256C5 I am targeting or does the toll just create a .pof file here?

ps I am aware that a .pof file is required to program the CPLD MAX5 to give access to the flash.

.sof file on the other hand was generated by the Quartus tool when selected CYCLONE V 5CEBA5F23C8 device.

    Check compilation messages to see if there was a reason why the file was not generated. Also check Assignments menu -> Device -> Device and Pin Options to check what files are supposed to get generated.
