Nios UART - can't receive data

Im having a simple UART connection using NEEK and PC- Hyperterminal I can successfully transmit characters from my Nios, but when i try to transmit character from hyperterminal to NEEK, I can'...

Might be due to insane features of hyperterminal - or at least it looking for some modem signals before transmitting.

The async terminal emulator in 'putty' is much more user friendly.
