nios command shell disappears immediately or freezes up

Guys

Can you help me figure out why my nios command shell disappears when i can it from start menu (windows 7). and then when it does come up and i try to connect to jtag_uart, the screen just freezes. Cant type anything at the cursor. only cntrl-c to exit

Any ideas?

    such behavior, is it a Linux operating system that is maybe not in the supported list? or something to do with administrator right.
