License problem

Hi,

When installing Max+plus II baseline version 10.2 software on a windows 7 professional running on a 32 bit platform, it terminates without giving a readme file, and when trying to licence it it gives alarm :

Out of memory for displaying help. Try cosing some applications and requesting help again.

When trying to copile VHDL files it complains on missing license.

I am a student using free version of the software, anyone who have any idea what to do?

I have 1 GB memory on the machine ...

Kind Regards

Alex

Do you have a motivation for not installing QuartusII ?

Max+plus II is a discontinued software that is prone to cause you a lot of problems...

    Well,

I am a beginner and the course I am joining at the university is using Max+plus II for the VHDL build training. Can I do the same with QuartusII, compile, simulate and check build?

    Kind Regards

Max+plus II is very old. Im not surprised it doesnt run on Windows 7. its VHDL support is also pretty rubbish.

install Quartus instead. It can do a lot more than Max +plus 2

I agree that Quartus is definitively a good choice.

In the case of the student, however, I would firstly ask the lecturer if such choice is considered wise or not.

If the final exam uses MaxPlusII, it could be a problem for the student not being confident with it.
