I have an old desgin implemented on a Cyclone III FPGA. This design uses a 3rd party IP in the form of an .qxp file.
I want to migrate the design to an Arria V FPGA.
Can I use the same .qxp file ?
Or do I have to request the IP vendor to re-synthesize it?

As the recipient of a .qxp file, you will need to ensure that your project targets the same device (or at least the same device family if the .qxp file does not include placement information), as specified by the sender.
So you will need to request the IP vendor to re-synthesize it as it is a different device family.
