Yes, your understanding is correct. There is no workaround to control CDR in E-Tile. You may explore Agilex 5 GTS XCVR which support the rx_set_locktoref control. Thank you.

For your information, you cannot use the CDR free in Basic mode. CDR freeze is a GPON-specific feature in the F-Tile PMA/FEC Direct PHY IP. There is no documentation showing it is supported under a BASIC FGT PMA configuration. Thank you.
