Xilinx tech support better than Altera?

I'm just curious if anybody knows if Xilinx's tech support is any better than Altera's. I'm extremely irritated by the Altera tech support as they seem to NEVER actually read the first submission before sending a generic response. Given that tech support already takes at least a day to respond to every new update posted this just adds more time to an already long process.

My most recent experience (as with several others) involved me sending a detailed description of the problem, a test project and a signal tap file demonstrating the problem. The response I got was a generic one suggesting things that I had either explicitly stated in my comments or could easily be seen in the included files.

I'm considering switching to Xilinx if their tech support is more competent. Any experience to help guide my decisions?

I have experience with both, and so far I have not seen any differences between them.

i have the same thinking with you.and i think xilinx's webcase online support is better than altera.XILINX has quick email reply with solutions, maybe xilinx has much more FAEs.

Ive not used Xilinx support - altera support has always responded quickly to my enhancement requests/bug reports.

I can agree with this - I in fact never got a generic response, first response most of the time in fact solved my problem. :)
