Honored ContributorYes the temperature has an effect on timing, so can affect the place and route phases. From what I can see from the file names, it seems that the only timing models available for the Stratix II are a fast model at -55°C and a slow model at +125°C, so changing the temperature will probably have no effect on your project. Newer devices such as the Stratix III and IV have more timing models.
I think you can change the temperature in the settings and run the TimeQuest tool to recalculate the timing without recompiling the whole design.
