Simple use of the VGA port and DE2 115

Dear all,

I would like to display on a S-VGA screen the content of a 16 bits register: each bit will be represented by a square of 16x16 pixel (if I have '1' the square I would like to display RED and dark blue) at position X and Y on the screen. There is a VGA Controller module given in the DE2-115 System CD. But there are no real simple tutorial to explain how to realize this baby step and the code is not sufficiently commented for me to understand how to use the various part of the module.

If you have some suggestions, it will be of great help.
