17 years agoThank you for assembling the information. I basically confirms my previous opinion, that it's feasible and also meaningful for a lot of applications, to build an TCP or UDP stack without relying on an embedded processor doing the housekeeping. Also the existing hardware TCP chips like WIZNET show, that it's possible in an ASIC.
I think, the decision to use NIOS II or a pure VHDL design should mainly depend on the system specification, but existing knowledge can play a role, of course.
