question about sdram on nios II
After I finished my project and built it ,there is no any error or warning. But when I run my C project,it said :
"Using cable "ByteBlasterII [LPT1]", device 1, instance 0x00 Processor is already paused Reading System ID at address 0x00000010: verified Initializing CPU cache (if present) OK Downloading 02000000 ( 0%) Downloaded 8KB in 0.2s (40.0KB/s) Verifying 02000000 ( 0%) Verify failed between address 0x2000000 and 0x2001EEB Leaving target processor paused." I use sdram as my only storage. Is it my project so large?I hope somebody help me to solve this problem.Thanks!!24 Replies

In that case you can start with the standard design, which already has the SDRAM controller, and add an on chip memory.

i want to use both bram(blockram) and external memory (sdram controller(ddr2/sdram))through niosii and i need to store more datas (image pixels) into sdram.

I don't know 'bram' but from a quick Google search it seems that it is Xilinx' name for internal dual-port sram. Now I'm ronfused. Do you want to use internal memory or externl sdram?
What do you mean by "usual steps" and "error occured"? - Altera_Forum

i instantiate bram in my simple module and access it through nios ii processor,i follow usual steps , error occured, anyone knows please help me
thank you - Altera_Forum

Have a look at the design examples for your kit. The standard nios example already has a Nios II CPU and a SDRAM controller configured for the chip on the board.

Well as I said there are several controllers available, but it depends on which memory chips you use. As an example you can have a look at that document (http://www.altera.com/literature/an/an398.pdf) for memories with a DDR interface.

--- Quote Start --- Asking the same question 3 times won't get you more answers, especially with such a vague question. There is a SDRAM controller available in SOPC builder. What SDRAM chip do you have? --- Quote End --- I know to access nios ii with on chip memory.now instead of onchip mem i need to access dynamic ram and static ram with processor could you please tell me any documentation is available - Altera_Forum
