Question about editing components in qsys

Hi, I've got a custom component in a qsys project. I'm wondering every time when I modify the source file, do I have to delete the component from the 'system contents', edit the component, save...

No you don't need to delete and edit component every time you made changes in source file.You need to edit the component only if you are changing the top level I/O Ports.Even it is not require to generate qsys system if you are changing source code from synthesis/submodules directory.In this case you just need to compile the design.
