Quartus (v7.2) can't read license file

I am currently trying to run Quartus II version 7.2 on Linux installed onto Mac OSX through Parallels. I have a license file (created just this week), but can't get Quartus to recognize it.

While attempting to license the program in the License Setup Settings, nothing happens. After choosing the license file (or defining its location with the LM_LICENSE_FILE method) nothing is listed as found in the setup window: None of the "Current License" options are listed as found, nothing is listed in the Licensed AMPP/MegaCore functions list, and nothing is found as the Network Interface Card (NIC) ID in the Local System Info section. The window looks no different with and without a license file selected or not selected.

Are there any weird tricks to using older versions of Quartus with newer licenses?

The license file worked fine in Quartus v12, but we would like to run 7.2 to match the version used to write code which we are modifying. The code does not work with Quartus v12, therefore the downgrade to 7.2.

You have a licence for the Quartus v12, you can't use it for the previous version.

If the code doesn't compile under Quartus v12, it has few chance to work under previous version.

No, new licenses are supposed to be valid for any old version of Quartus. Mokango you should try and contact your FAE or local distributor to see if you need to do a special operation to make it work.

cs1400, I've seen Quartus brake several things during upgrades so it's perfectly possible to end up with a project that only compiles correctly on an old version of the osftware. It's the main reason why we keep old installations of Quartus here.
