nios2 ide error message

For a project I am using nios2 ide version 9.1sp2 on windows 7.

When creating an application and BSP from a template I am getting the following error message:

ERROR: SOPC_KIT_NIOS2 - Undefined variable

When I am looking in the control panel under system variables the variable is set as following:

SOPC_KIT_NIOS2

C:\altera\91\nios2eds

What can be the cause of this error?

    Hi,

    I saw the same issue on Altera forum. I guess Windows Vista is creating this problem. Can u pls try to upgrade ur Nios II EDS to version 10.0 and try again?

    Rgds,

    Ressurecting this topic I have the following scenario:

    (1) 64 bit - Windows 7 Home Premium;

    (2) Quartus 9.1 sp2

    Searching for similar topics the recommendation is the same: update Quartus to a newer version. But there are no return from the users telling if this was the fix.

    My questions are:

    (a) updating Quartus to a newer version is in fact the solution for this problem ("ERROR: SOPC_KIT_NIOS2 - Undefined variable")?

    (b) if "yes", which version of Quartus is the appropriate for my platform (64bit-Win7Home)? I ask this because the lattest Quartus version can be optimized for Win8 and can

    have some incompatibility with Win7.
