10 years agoYou purchase the license for the IP itself, independently from the Quartus version or FPGA device you are targeting.
The IP license is linked to the machine where Quartus is installed. When you activate a license on your machine, a unique license file is generated by Altera based on NIC MAC or disk SN. If you upgrade Quartus you can use the same license file, while if you move to another PC you need a new license file.
