MAX2 alternative to XC95144XL

I recommend you don't concern yourself too much with the level of resources in a device (although they are a useful guide).

If you're migrating an existing design run the design through Quartus (the software tools for compiling a design) and target your device of choice. Alternatively, let Quartus choose a suitable device - you can choose a family of parts (such as MAX II) and Quartus will determine the 'best' part, from the selected family, to use.

The latest web edition of Quartus (which is free) is all you need to target MAX II devices. Download it here (http://dl.altera.com/14.0/?edition=web)
