LEDs connected to CPLD

Hello,

I planning to connect up to 16 LED to MAX II CPLD (EPM240).

1. Are there any special consideration I should take? I.E. pins on the CPLD that I should use / or do not use?

2. Should I connect the LED in a "sink" or "source" mode?
