Honored ContributorI read the CYCLONE V handbook ,and find cyclone v support the ddr3 hard momory controller, so I use the quartus12.1 sp1 instance a ddr3 hard momory controller, but when compile it ,has a error " The design contains 1 block of type "Hard Memory Controller " but the selected device 5CEBA7F27C8 does not support such blocks ".

Honored ContributorI saw in the quartus "Device " setting tab,the "memory controllers" column ,there is no memory controllers in cyclone v base device.And I know that ,cyclone v base device does not support hard memoy controller.
But why the handbook does not write this..Honored ContributorHi, mybe it's too late ,did you try to use a Soft Memory Controller (handbook says that), 5CEBA7F27C8 (B : No hard PCIe or hard memory controller)

You need the part decoder ring: It's now in http://www.altera.com/literature/hb/cyclone-v/cv_51001.pdf Page 4 shows that the 4th letter B has no hard memory controllers, So if you need one, you should order the part: 5CEFA7F27C8
