Information needed: Altera DSP library

a pleasant day to you sirs,

I would like to seek some advice to know what to do. I read up some infos that I could generate HDL code from designs build through Altera's DSP libraries.

I would like to use Altera's DSP builder with Matlab/Simulink to build my simulink design, from which I hope to generate an HDL code. The target is a Nexys2 board from Digilent Inc.

1) are Altera's DSP libraries free? I am using a Linux environment?

2) if Altera's DSP libraries aren't free, could I purchase them without necessarily investing in the entire Altera DSP software package?

3) any other advise welcome.

warm regards

Toks

    1. DSP Builder requires a pay-for license

    2. you can buy just DSP Builder

    3. you'll have a hell of a time running DSP Builder code on a Xilinx chip
