How to use new version of Quartus II using older version license Dongle USB key-lock?

How to use new version of Quartus II using older version license Dongle USB key-lock?

I am using Quartus II 5.1. Now I would like to use a newer version (11.0). However, the new software cannot recognize my license. Therefore, I have tried to create a new license file, but Self Service License Center say..

License generation request cannot be completed. There are no product licenses assigned to one or more Computer(s): T000101110

Do I have to buy a license for the new one?

    Your old license is more than probably expired and isn't valid for Quartus 11. You either have to buy a new one or see if the free web edition is enough for your needs.

    afaik, they replaced all dongle licences.
