How to edit the current ip from ip catalog

Hi,

I just upgraded my Quartus II rev13.0 to rev14.0. I found this time MegaWizard Plug-in Manager is gone but we have a new animal "IP-catalog".

IP-catalog can help me to generate a new ip just as the same as the old MegaWizard did. But, i did not find Edit function as MegaWizad did. Only we have is "Add" button.

Is there any one who can advise me how to edit my current IP design by using IP catalog instead of redoing a new one?

Thanks

Yaoting

    I just learned this yesterday.

I think if you go to the project navigator and find the "IP components" tab, you can right click on the IP component listed there and "edit in parameter editor".

I often do it as Lance says, but you should also be able to do File -> Open and go to the .qsys file(if there is one now) or the old HDL file that was created, and it should open it as an IP variant.

Rysc -- thanks -- It seems like when I try to open any of the HDL or other files associated with the IP, it opens in the external text editor I defined. Maybe the external editor gets in the way of the method for opening. Although I just tested it using the quartus editor and there was no difference.

I've only tested this with the PLL created with the IP catalog, so maybe for other types it isn't a problem. Just saving my notes here for future reference or others that stumble; the V13-V14 changes seem to trip people up; it is all new to me.

If you directly open the HDL file without going through the Quartus, I believe the OS ie Windows would not know that this is a Quartus II related file. The way that Rysc recommended should be the optimal way so that Windows know that this is Quartus II file.
